Designer first. I build with Claude Code.

I'm Rachel Reid, a product designer based in Glasgow. I studied Digital Interaction Design at the University of Dundee and joined a fintech startup in 2022 as an early design hire, working through to Series A. I work with international clients, including lenders in the US, and run research sessions with them remotely.

There I created the design system from scratch on MUI and Material 3, made it WCAG compliant, and I'm now leading the migration of the live app onto it. I design and ship new features end to end, open my own pull requests, and review every PR that touches UI across the team. Right now I'm working on a borrower dashboard, a groups feature and a refactor of how document requests work, all at once.

I worked in Figma from 2022, and since the end of 2025 I've designed directly in code. Claude Code is part of how I work every day: I prototype on the real design system, turn concepts and demos around in a day or less, write the commands my developers use to check front-end quality, and ship UI to production. I stay on the front end and partner with engineers on the back end.

Outside my day job I recently rebuilt my family's laser-engraving gift shop with Claude Code, from audit to production.
